چکیده

Original Article Background and Objectives Cancer testis antigens (CTA) provide attractive targets for cancer-specific immunotherapy. Although CTA genes are expressed in some normal tissues, such as the testis, this immunologically protected site lacks MHC I expression and as such, does not present self antigens to T cells. To date, CTA genes have been shown to be expressed in a range of solid tumors via demethylation of their promoter CpG islands, but rarely in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or other hematologic malignancies.

Investigation of SMAD3 and SMAD4 genes expression in CML patients and K562 cell line and association with chronic myeloid leukemia

Aim and Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a clonal myeloproliferative disorder with cytogenetic characterization of the abnormal Philadelphia chromosome. This chromosome results from a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22. This is an important signaling pathway in the process of cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis, as well as the pathogenesis of TGF-β disease, i...

Analysis of Expression Of SIRT1 Gene In Patients With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Resistant To Imatinib Mesylate

Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia is a clonal myeloproliferative disease which is characterized by bcr/abl translocation. With the emergence of tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as imatinib mesylate, significant improvement has been made in treatment of this disease. However, drug resistance against this medicine is still an obstacle. SIRT1 is a gene with deacetylase activity which has been de...

Increased PRAME-Specific CTL Killing of Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cells by Either a Novel Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor Chidamide Alone or Combined Treatment with Decitabine

As one of the best known cancer testis antigens, PRAME is overexpressed exclusively in germ line tissues such as the testis as well as in a variety of solid and hematological malignant cells including acute myeloid leukemia. Therefore, PRAME has been recognized as a promising target for both active and adoptive anti-leukemia immunotherapy. However, in most patients with PRAME-expressing acute m...

Epigenetic effects of decitabine on acute lymphoblastic and acute promyelocytic leukemia cells

Background: Decitabine (5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine, DAC) is a deoxycytidine analog currently used as an effective drug against myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia. Although various studies have pointed out the epigenetic effects of this drug, its epigenetic mechanisms in different leukemic cell lines are not specified. In this lab trial study, possible epigenetic effects of decitab...
